WISC-4 is a modern intelligence test that is more compatible with today, prepared with the development of the WISC-R intelligence test, which has been applied since the 1970s for the purpose of evaluating adaptation problems, school success, social skills and monitoring the developmental process in children.
The Wisc-4 intelligence test is an intelligence test for the 6-16 age group. It is done to determine the intelligence level of the child. In addition, learning all the skills mentioned below is applied in order to be able to direct them correctly after detecting the talents that are below or above their age. The duration of the test varies between 65 minutes and 115 minutes, depending on the speed of the student taking the test.
WISC 4 consists of 10 basic subtests and 5 backup tests with different intelligence test categories. The test consists of four main parts:1. Verbal comprehension (consists of 5 separate subtests): Reasoning, comprehension, concept formation, verbal knowledge and verbal expression ability are used. Each task requires the ability to understand auditory stimuli, access verbally encoded information in long-term memory, and verbalize responses. It represents crystallized reasoning that reflects learned, knowledge and abilities as well as verbal knowledge. It predicts language and cultural proficiency and school success.
2.Perceptual reasoning (consists of 4 separate subtests): It measures fluent and perceptual reasoning and perceptual organization. Each task requires abilities used in visual perception and organization, reasoning using visually presented nonverbal material, and managing-management functions.
3.Working memory (consists of 3 separate subtests): It measures short-term auditory memory, attention, concentration, working memory. Every task requires selection and monitoring attention, mental manipulation, abilities.
4.Processing speed (consisting of 3 separate subtests): Mental processing speed measures letter-motor processing speed. Each task requires efficient production of multiple motor responses such as visual perception and organization, visual scanning, competent control of attention, maintenance of effort, speed.
In order for the test to be applied and evaluated correctly, WISC IV is performed under the supervision of a specialist psychologist in a comfortable and safe environment within Beylikdüzü Büyükçekmece Kiana Psychology.
